  3.      only to ignorance unless there is willingness to risk the 
  4.      destruction of those qualities in the changes education 
  5.      brings and a desire to face building up his character again 
  6.      but with a totally different mentality. This different 
  7.      mentality may show itself in a shirking of work, trouble 
  8.      over food or in a desire to have his wife living with him 
  9.      however difficult for the employer. The reasons are clear; 
  10.      the African‚Äôs whole capacity for interest, pleasure and 
  11.      pain are immensely increased through even a little 
  12.      education.
  13.           For the educated African (using this term for even 
  14.      the comparatively low standard achieved by the average 
  15.      African schoolboy) the sense of interest has been 
  16.      aroused through the new variety of life and monotony
